Coconut Grove Sailing Club
The purpose of this organization is to encourage the sport of sailing, to promote the science of seamanship & navigation, to sponsor cruises, races and instructional classes, and to foster a spirit of cooperation and good fellowship.
Coconut Grove Sailing Club is situated just south of downtown Miami, just a mile north of Biscayne National Park, fifty miles west of Bimini, Bahamas, direct 200 yard access to the beautiful sailing area known as "Biscayne Bay." Coconut Grove is best described as the historic section of Miami, having first been settled in the 1860's, when it was referred to as "Jacks Bight".
The club was founded in December of 1945, just post W.W.II, as a club for families to come together and enjoy the sport of sailing. A strong emphasis was to be placed on children and their involvement in sailing and the club. Today, that continues to be our primary mission. |
