It would be a normal beginning of this history to say that Coral Reef Yacht Club was launched in 1955 by a veteran group of enthusiastic sailors, anxious to preserve the finer traditions of yachting in the South Florida area.

The facts are, however, that the Club was born of many beginnings, many committee meetings and many efforts of several groups of people, dating back several years before 1955.
