Visions East - Robotic Marine Solutions
|
Has Your Process Evolved? Visions East, Inc. has patented the first robotic system for preparing and painting yacht and ship surfaces. Computer programs manage the system allowing for 24/7 operation, reduced labor, safer working conditions, and with less environmental impact. By automating the marine coatings process, coatings failures are controlled and completion dates are met.
Robotic Ship Painting incorporates technology similar to what the automotive and aerospace industries have used for more than twenty years. Industry’s demand for higher quality, shorter construction schedules, and uniform pricing continues to rise. Visions East’s technological advancements provide the solution today!
Yacht System Laser Topographic Mapping - Yacht surfaces are topographically mapped by a precision laser system. The map becomes the guide for all subsequent processes. Surface Preparation - The system profiles the yacht’s surface through the use of interchangeable grinding or sanding tools after which the initial primers are robotically applied. Application of Fairing Materials - a) 100% solids epoxy compound is applied by plural component robotic spray equipment; b) as an alternative, sheets of high-density closed-cell foam material are attached by vacuum bag to the yacht’s surface. Precision Milling - The ideal shape of the yacht’s surface is milled by the computer- controlled robotic system utilizing the topographic data generated by the laser mapping process. Coatings - All primers and top coats are precisely mixed using plural component equipment and accurately applied by the computer-controlled robotic system. Measurement - A variety of measurement tools may be attached to collect data and verify the integrity of the complete coatings process.
Commercial/Military Vessel System Surface Preparation - Interchangeable wrist allows for the use of UHP waterjetting, media blasting or other surface preparation methods. Coatings - All primers and top coats are precisely mixed using plural component equipment and accurately applied by the computer-controlled robotic system. Measurement - A variety of measurement tools may be attached to collect data and verify the integrity of the complete coatings process.
Steve Morton, President Steve Morton founded Visions East, Inc. in 1994. The inspiration for developing a computer-controlled robotic system for the surface preparation, fairing and painting of a vessel’s surface came from his years of involvement in refinishing yachts in Fort Lauderdale and around the world. Since 1977, he has worked continuously in this field and has published numerous articles addressing all aspects of the marine coatings process. Steve has extensive knowledge in spray technology including high volume-low pressure (HVLP) systems. Steve has held several workshops and seminars providing training to professional s and craftsmen on subjects involving Coatings, HVLP Spraying, Composite Repairs, Paint Tips the Pros Use and has taught classes on Marine Painting and Varnishing.
He has been an active member of the Marine Industries Association of South Florida, the National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE) and The Society for Protective Coatings (SSPC). Steve is also the President and owner of Performance Marine Coatings, Inc., a successful yacht refinishing company headquartered in south Florida. Steve holds a Bachelor's degree from Stetson University and has also studied at the University of Madrid. His clear vision and wealth of experience provides the path of success for Visions East. Mission Statement To Become the Premier Robotic Marine Solutions Company Providing Leadership Technology in the Automated Application of Paints, Coatings, and Fairing Materials.
